Golf and Back Pain: The Chiropractic Solution

PINNACLE CHIROPRACTIC

SINGAPORE'S CHIROPRACTIC GOLF SPECIALIST PRESENTS:

Golf and Back Pain, The Chiropractic Solution!

Golf and chiropractic are a natural fit. Surprisingly though, this school of thought has taken a long time to come to fruition. For years, golf back pain has been accepted by golfers as some kind of badge of honour. But all that seems to be now changing as golfers everywhere are beginning to realize the benefits of having regular chiropractic care to treat their golf back pain, improve their score and their overall health. Most professional golfers utilize the services of chiropractors. People like Tiger Woods and Padraig Harrington contribute much of their success in golf to REGULAR chiropractic care.

"I've been going to chiropractors for as long as I can remember.  It's as important to my training as practicing my swing."
-Tiger Woods-

"One thing I know through experience is that I need to keep seeing my chiropractor, even when I have a few weeks off from golf…Getting on-going chiropractic care helps me to stay injury-free. It also helps me to deal with symptoms when they begin, so that they don't turn into bigger injuries down the road."
-Padraig Harrington-

There are 30 million golfers in the United States. Studies show that more than 80% of these players experience back pain or injury at some point while actively playing golf. Because the golf swing is a very unnatural movement for the lower back 4 out of every 5 golfers experience back pain or "golf back."

Swinging a driver or three iron at speeds of up to 100 mph while turning, twisting and pulling can be extremely traumatic to the entire torso let alone just the lower back.

The golf swing isn't the only aspect of playing the sport that causes golf back pain. There is a lot of walking in golf, even if you take a cart. You have to walk up hills, down hills, and all over the uneven surfaces of the average course. In addition at other times you have to swing and torque your body while positioning yourself on unstable surfaces like hills, tree roots, or sand. Perhaps the worst part of golf for your back though is the simple act of standing. There is a lot of standing around in golf, and just like in everyday life when someone stands they usually shift weight to one side of their body. This tends to tighten muscles on one side while relaxing muscles on the other side. Next, the player moves to the tee box and soon starts swinging away again, causing trauma to both sides. Once he finally makes his way to the green he is then bent over lining up and standing awkwardly over the ball while trying to sink a putt. All of these movements put tremendous stress on the lower back resulting in golf back pain or "golf back."

When a player experiences back pain during a round of golf, their scores suffer and their enjoyment is taken away from the game. Back, neck, shoulder and elbow pain will sabotage any golf swing and ruin the golf experience. It shouldn't be that way and it doesn't have to. Regular chiropractic care can help alleviate golf back pain and get your game to where it is supposed to be.

Chiropractic Care for Golf

Golf back pain is the most common complaint among golfers.  However, back pain isn't the only pain golfers tend to suffer.  Neck, shoulder, elbow and hip pain are all common complaints among golfers of all ages. Regular chiropractic care could be the answer many golfers are searching for while trying to rid themselves of golf back pain and move toward optimal function.  There are several treatment measures that a golf chiropractor can employ when treating specific golf injuries or when using preventative chiropractic care.

Regular chiropractic care not only accomplishes the goal of injury treatment and prevention, it can greatly improve a player's game and score.  Healthy, strong spines simply perform better on the golf course.  It's as simple as that. Reviews By Our Satisfied Patients

  • "Twenty years ago I was involved in a minor car accident which left me with daily low back and tailbone pain. Over the past two decades, I have been taking pain killers almost every day to allow me to do my daily activities. After being under chiropractic care for the past 9 months, I haven't had to take a single pain killer and I am now healthier than I have ever been in my entire life. Thanks to the staff and doctors at Pinnacle Chiropractic, I was able to turn over a new leaf and live my life to the fullest!"
